Various dating methods
Many fairly recent thinkers about Epistemology, and the Philosophy of Science, like that trendy pragmatic and paradigmatic trio Feyerabend, Popper, and Kuhn, concentrated their efforts on explicating, perhaps too much, the natural pattern of how the progression of science works.
They talked about the “standing science” or as they call it “the paradigm” and how “scientific revolutions” shift and even change these epistemological edifices over time.

In regards to the way it accepts its newest dating methods as law -despite flaws any layman can see in the methods and assumptions used, and by examining the conclusions reached thereby – Science has become, in some sense, a new religion.
Such observations are undoubtedly correct, if not laughingly so, and really whether these revolutions happen suddenly or gradually is the only important matter of debate.
If you look at history, every new theory becomes at first met with opposition.
